Clae Spring/Summer 2013 – Preview

I’m back with another Spring/Summer 2013 preview, this time focusing on Clae. Back when I worked with BLENDS we carried Clae early on. They always came with it with their sneakers. People were really hung up on Nike then, so Clae would sit on the shelves at times, which I attributed to people “sleeping.” I always thought the “Russell” style they offered was a great alternative to the Dunk High and I really enjoyed the moc-toe of the “Romare” shoe. Clae, along with Gourmet, have always been amongst my favorite independent sneaker brands.

I stopped by the Clae booth to visit a friend and another blog bud was already there. Freshnessmag’s Poe Hwang was already in the mix and it’s always nice running into him, so we chopped it up about Clae along with my friend Ben, who works with Clae. While at the booth, Ben walked us through the range of S/S ’13 sneakers and he allowed us to snap a sample of what’s to come. The first shoe pictured, the Mills, comes in three dope colors – black, grey and some kind of blue – each comprised out of suede, leather and mesh. The cork-like midsole looks cool on them, and each shoe comes equipped with a durable Vibram outsole. Nice.

All the shoes we’re showing above are shoes I liked. Highly wearable and well made. And for summertime lounging, I like the perforated sneakers at the end of the photo slide. I am just wondering if they will leave really wacky tan lines. All in all, good stuff. Check for these early next year!
