First Look: Oakley Crown Zip Jacket Fall 2012
When Oakley did the Love & Guts/Thrasher Magazine 30th Anniversary photo exhibition at The Lab in Costa Mesa, they also put on a little preview for some stuff that is dropping later this year. One of the pieces that caught my eye was this Crown Zip jacket. I was able to get my hands on it and I’ve pretty much worn it ever since receiving it a few weeks ago.
The Oakley Crown Zip a very lightweight jacket. Although lightweight, it will definitely cook you internally if you don’t open up the vents. I guess tech jackets are like that, though. I think they all trap in body heat pretty effectively, or should at least. This jacket also boasts a lot of great features. Some of the noteworthy details like magnetic closures on the hip pockets, Riri zippers, DWR hydrophobic coating and signature Hydrofuse welded seams, a packable hood, and media pockets on the chest make this one heck of a jacket. As you can see from the pictures, the coating does a great job of resisting the water as it beads it up nicely making it fashionable, but more importantly, functional.
Also, another big plus about the jacket is the cut. It’s pretty handsome. It wears well and receives all sorts of compliments. It looks super steezy on females, too. My friend Angela has worn the size M in it, and although rather large on her, it looks dope. Girls wearing it in a Small has all sorts of win written all over it. Oh, and the colors, too! It will be available in a greyish-blue and grey. They look like chambray fabric, which is another great thing about the jackets. I absolutely love both colors I have seen. Hopefully, this jacket makes its way into Oakley’s seasonal lineup because this is a very solid piece.
